The Paddlefish participated at the National Harbor Regatta in Washington DC on August 24th, 2013. This was the first time the team attended this race. The venue was amazing! With the hotel on site and many good restaurants there was no need to drive, a real plus after a long day of competition. There was nearby street activity and shopping to fill in the non-race hours.
The team had a successful race day. The Paddlefish came from behind as 8th seed in the 2k to take bronze in Division A, and a silver in the 500m B Champ Final. We missed first place in the final by .52 second and achieved a personal best in the 2K with a time of 9.46.49
The 2K race is a staggered start and it is difficult to know the team’s standing in the race. The medals were presented before posting the times in the 2K, and the Paddlefish were thrilled with the Bronze medal. This kind of good feeling can last for days!
