The P’fish had their first race of the season on June 21, 2014. The Baltimore Dragon Boat Challenge was full of fun and surprises. Twenty-three paddlers suited up to participate in this race. The weather was overcast which made for a perfect paddling day and the fast current recorded some incredible times.
The team took sIlver in the B Major Division. The race was close and we missed gold by a dragon’s nose. We did win gold, in the form of a trophy, in our division of the 1814 race. This race was all about course times and the staggered start kept us guessing until the announcements at the medal ceremony. One by one the names of the teams were called until we cheered at the win!
Our paddling season was off to a slow start this year due to weather and water conditions in Pittsburgh. This race day certainly exceeded our expectations!
