Second Amazing Mini-Camp!

Get Out of My Office!

Our Mini-Camp, with the incomparable Tim Schaus, started with a beautiful two and a half hour Friday evening paddle and videotaping session. The weather and the water flow were gifts because the predictions darkened as the weekend approached. A great start to our three day event.

The topic of the evening was THE POSITION OF POWER. Lean. Reach. Rotate. Get that mighty pull through the water. Forward in the ski jump position, and stay in your office. Don’t lean into the center of the boat, he said. That is my office! Tim promised technique is what gives us the edge over the young strong weight lifters that “festival paddle”…..despite their “pipes”. So because it is Tim, we believe and stretch ourselves to try to find a “comfortable place in this uncomfortable position”. Our office!

Saturday was wet and wild but we were out all day and proved, yet again, that the Paddlefish are tough stuff! The team dinner on Saturday was a fun affair with plenty of good food. Sunday was the dreaded video review and race tactics.

Tim’s final talk addressed what it takes to improve, the role of natural ability, and the commitment to the team effort. He related the story of the chicken and the pig who were preparing dinner for their farmers. The chicken provided the eggs and the pig volunteered the bacon. The chicken was a participant but the pig was committed! Are you a chicken or a pig?

OINK!

Tim and Anne Marie had an opportunity to tour some of Pittsburgh’s hot spots with the R-Ds. All in all, a wonderful way to spend a weekend…..a great coach, participating in a sport we love, and being a part of this incredible, committed team! Go Paddlefish!

Thank You Tim!
